Our short 5-hours getaway to McLaren Vale, as shared in my previous post on the 1st of July, was delightful! You bet, it wouldn’t be complete without a quick munch. So our feet led us to the quaint – The Cottage Bakery as we always love trying out local pastries.
The Cottage Bakery
Outside was pretty gorgeous with benches or coffee tables and chairs to use. Perfect for those days when you want to commune outdoor on a sunny day.
Inside is similarly lovely with charming furniture and fixtures. There is another small room that resembles a charming English style living room for a lovely coffee experience.
When we arrived at around 3 o’clock, there aren’t many people anymore and we were not surprised to see limited items in the pantry. This bakery has 4.5 stars rating at TripAdvisor which means many people love The Cottage goodies. Plus, the shop closes at 4 pm, so fair enough.
Yet, I reckon we are still pretty in luck as our favourite sausage rolls and tarts are still available. So we got ourselves one sausage roll, meat pie roll and a custard tart.
Of course, a good pair to these would be smoothies! We had chocolate and strawberry flavours made from local dairy fresh cream and milk. Oh so Yum!
Overall, what I like about the Cottage Bakery are their products! They are never compromised, unlike franchised goodies. Always baked homemade and lovingly with gluten free options available. Plus, dining here always feels cosy. So, that’s a plus factor.
Therefore, definitely, we will come by again!. Surely there are a lot more things to do around the place.

Accommodation in McLaren Vale
Along the Main Road, are a number of accommodation options. Example to this is the Casavino Luxury Villa that is rated 10 out of 10 by guests. Perfect for family and friends who want the convenience of being close to everything on this main street. There are shops, restaurants, parks, walking and biking trails here, and even a wine cellar called the Hardy’s Tintara Winery (in my next post).
Further surrounding hotels also include Serafino McLaren Vale (a Vineyard hotel accommodation), Wine and Roses Bed and Breakfast, Southern Vales BnB and McLaren Vale Motel and Apartments to spend an ultimate weekend or school holiday getaway to the wine, hills, beach and country McLaren Vale.
It was surely a great delight visiting South Australia’s pride again as we not only hop-on-parks as I shared with you on my previous post last first of July. But, we also visited the McLaren Vale and Fleurieu Visitor Centre and the Hardy’s Tintara Winery. Do read them to get a glimpse of McLaren Vale’s finest.
