Lake Konigssee Berchtesgaden Germany is a Bucketlist

Lake Konigssee in Berchtesgaden Germany is a 30-minute bus ride from the town centre of Berchtesgaden from the Hauptbahnhof (meaning central station) and an hour by bus from Salzburg Austria.

Why Is It Delightful to Visit Lake Koniggssee?

The Königssee is a wonderful example of a crystal-clear alpine lake.

Because this place is close to Hitler’s Eagles Nest and Hitler’s Berghof residence in Obersalzberg, his family, important guests and dignitaries used to visit and cruise here along the foot of the Alps in the years 1930’s to 1940’s.

Today, this is known as Lake Konigssee in Berchtesgaden’s National Park where tourists can explore on a ferry that takes them to St. Bartholomew Church and to Obersee stop or at Schrainbachfall.

Visitors just need to take note of time table for boats to arrive and pick up passengers back to the pier or dock one has initially boarded.

My Unforgettable Lake Konigssee Experience

Lake Konigssee Berchtesgaden, Germany is a very picturesque place even if you are not able to go on the electric boat cruise. If you are short on time like us, going to see the Lake Konigssee after touring the Berchtesgaden Town Centre is lovely.

Even just at the Boat Dock, you can enjoy scenic views of the Alps, the Lake and the serene landscape.

It was winter when we came here in November, so it was chilly for us to go on a boat cruise.

It takes about 35 Minutes to reach the first stop at St. Bartholomew church by ferry, so it takes 1.5 hours in total if you go on this lake ride.
