Stop and Think

Time spent in self reflection is never wasted. It is an intimate date with yourself.

Today I would like to share with you a beautiful poem I have come across. Fitting enough for us to reflect the gift of this wonderful holiday season.

All throughout the year, we stay focused on running and strutting through time. Now, is a wonderful opportunity for us to Stop and Think to appreciate the wonderful beauty of nature including a time reconnect with our families and loved ones.

Like this poem says –

  • What is this life if, full of care,
  • We have no time to stand and stare.
  • No time to stand beneath the boughs
  • And stare as long as sheep or cows,
  • No time to see, when woods we pass,
  • where squirrels hide their nuts in grass.
  • No time to see, in broad daylight,
  • Streams full of stars like stars at night,
  • No time to turn at beauty’s glance,
  • And watch her feet, how they can dance.
  • No time to wait till her mouth can
  • enrich that smile her eyes began.
  • A poor life this if, full of care,
  • We have no time to stand and stare.

I know we all have different reasons and situations. This poem just reminds me how important it is to have a break and recharge.

According to the book I just read, there are two ways of making it through our busy life. One way is to stop thinking. The second is to stop and think. Many people live the first way. They fill every hour with incessant activity. They dare not be alone. There is no time of quiet reflection in their lives. The second way, to stop and think is to contemplate what life is for and to what end we are living. The word Sabbath literally means “Stop doing what you are doing.”

This holiday season is a good reminder to do that. See and reflect on the blessings of the year so you can move ahead to the future without fear.

Thus, wishing you all a joyous and reflective season with friends and dear ones.

Hi There! Thanks for reading and welcome to my blog. I am Lyn, a mom to two adorable daughters, currently residing in Adelaide, South Australia. I have lived two countries, visited 3 continents and can't wait to travel more. Photography, arts, kids fun, family travels and all things inspirational delight me. I am not born affluent but I can attest that dreams do come true with perspiration and inspiration. Lucky enough to be given a second life, I don't want to waste my time not being able to create beautiful moments. Because what we do with our time is what we do with our lives. I hope I can inspire you in your life's journey.
