If you are looking for Places to Visit in Adelaide or South Australia, I recommend you visit McLaren Vale for a picturesque getaway for just a 35 minutes drive from the city. In fact, I have shared with you that we had the chance to visit Tintara Cellar Door and Winery in McLaren Vale. This is just at 202 Main Road McLaren Vale, so is not hard to visit.
Why come visit Hardy’s Tintara Winery and Cellar Door?
McLaren Vale is famous for producing some of the world’s best Shiraz. The harvest season in McLaren Vale South Australia traditionally runs between February – April. However, any time of the year, you are more than welcome to come by especially here in Hardy’s Tintara Cellar Door.
Taste and Experience South Australia
You can taste wine if you want to, but if you don’t, they have a self-guided walk of the gardens,
a fine collection of old stone buildings way back 1857,
and a viewing platform on how wines are produced here at Tintara Cellar Door.
You can grab a cheese and wine platter to try. A number of vintage and collectable Hardy Wines are also available.
Or perhaps buy other products on sale for giveaways or gift packs.
Learn How Wine is Made
I guarantee that you don’t even have to be classy to visit. Everyone is welcome. What is fascinating for me is the viewing area to help you be acquainted on how wine is manufactured from vines to bottle.
Do a Self Guided Walk
Furthermore, the grounds and architecture are superb that still dates back to the year 1857.
Being able to come here and know the rich heritage of the place is quite inspirational that is worth telling the world. The founding founder of Hardy’s Tintara Cellar Door in McLaren Vale is Thomas Hardy. He envisioned on creating a wine that will be prized in the markets of the world proudly made from South Australia. With over 160 years that have passed, this vision has been a reality and is a continuous motivation for until the current fifth generation of the Hardys. I am just in awe how an idea can continue to linger even beyond death.
Just like what John F. Kennedy once said –
“A man may die, nations may rise and fall, but an idea lives on.”
So, do all these reasons convince you?
We even missed the annual McLaren Vale Sea and Vines festival held last 9-12 June 2017. However, we don’t regret coming over to Tintara on a quieter afternoon. Overall, everything is totally worth it!
