When life becomes a routine,
Turn your face towards the sunshine, and the shadows will fall behind you – Walt Whitman
Yes. This line is soothing for me all the time.
There are some days that seem to be absent of purpose and motivation. Do you reckon?
On such a day, we might feel as this man felt:
When I woke up this morning, I said to myself that this would be a day just like every other day. And it was. I took the same train as every morning. I read the same comments in the paper on an international situation which never changes. On my desk I found the same piles of papers to go through.
The people all look the same and so does my supervisor. They had that blank expression which says that nothing new is going to happen today. For lunch, I had the same old thing to eat. I went back to my desk until five o clock. and then I just came home, knowing full well that tomorrow it will start all over again.
God, I’m tired of it all. I had hoped for something completely different. I had dreamed that someday I would lead an active and exciting life. I’ll never be anything but what I am. That was a dream.
When you begin to experience this kind of fatigue and boredom, it is time to take a break! These are symptoms of oncoming depression and depression will keep you from living the full life God has planned for you.
To defeat fatigue, boredom and depression, turn immediately to the Lord for a change of attitude, strength and wisdom. Admit your dissatisfaction and frustration, be honest – He knows everything about you anyway!
Then listen for the answer. God may also be nudging you to try something new, as a profession, in ministry, as a hobby, or as a family activity.
One thing is certain, God does not want you to abandon the dreams He has given you. He wants you to fulfil the dreams He has put in your heart.
Secondly, keep your vision and your goals near you. If you don’t have one, it is time to make certain of it and prepare a roadmap for it – What Do You Really Want? Get It.
Do the very best that you can, in the things you do best, and you will know, in thy soul, that you are the greatest success in the world.
Lastly, there is nothing wrong with being stuck in a routine. After all, a routine makes up our habits. In fact, it’s what we do every day that makes up success. The question though is – are you doing something every day that makes you closer to your passion, goals or vision?
Take a break and reflect on it. Your heart will know the answer.
There are no limits to what you can achieve that the mind can conceive. Except the limits you place on yourself. – Napoleon Hill
Yes, it takes courage! Once you decide, it will never be easy at first but it will all be worth the try and persistence.
Where to start? Try on a new hobby, craft or visit a new place. Do something that tickles your imagination, ignites your passion and brings on that spark in you.
